Our EcoSMART Relationship

McDaniels Integrated Pest Management has partnered with EcoSMART Technologies, a world leader in proprietary pesticide products derived from natural plant oils, to provide environmentally safe and effective pest management solutions to our customers.

About EcoSMART

EcoSMART’s technology is based on the natural defenses that plants and trees have used for their self protection against insects and pathogens for centuries – essential oils.

After over a decade of research, EcoSMART developed revolutionary combinations of efficacious insecticidal plant essential oils that offer botanical based alternatives to conventional pesticides. The active ingredients in EcoSMART’s products are unique, synergistic blends of essential oils, many of which are classified as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and approved as direct food additives.

To find out how you can begin to benefit from safe and effective EcoSmart based Pest Management you can request a free initial inspection and one of our trained service professionals will be happy to meet with you.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM):

McDaniels Integrated Pest Management has partnered with EcoSMART as advocates in the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as part of any regular service program. An IPM program consists of a cycle of inspecting, identifying, monitoring, evaluating and selection of appropriate control methods. Once a pest problem is resolved, the regular service program is designed to prevent future pest infestations and possible entry into the home or business with minimal impact to the customer.

The McDaniels IPM / EcoSMART 4-Step Service Plan:

Inspect the Property - Our trained technicians will perform a thorough inspection prior to any treatments, identify any pest problems, and any areas conducive to pest infestation in and around the home or business.

Customer Communication - Once the inspection is complete we will discuss and explain all issues identified during the inspection with you and describe the benefits of EcoSMART technology. We will also provide a written service report of all treatments we intend to provide, what you can expect to occur, and what corrective measures, if any, you may need to take following the service.

Perform the Service - Once the treatment plan is agreed upon our service technicans will follow all of the appropriate conventional service treatment protocols creating a pest-free environment.

Follow-up - Proactive follow-up is the key to building a pest free environment. When the service is complete we will work with you to schedule the next service date and advise you on the frequency of service required to reduce the pest population.

The EcoSMART Service Treatment Protocols:

Inspection

Our technicians will conduct a thorough inspection in and around the home or business using a flashlight and EcoPCO® ACU Contact Insecticide (contact aerosol). Use in cracks and crevices and void areas. During this process we will pay close attention to areas close to moisture sources in and around food.

Interior Service

Generally an EcoSmart service will employ the use EcoEXEMPT® D Dust Insecticide or EcoPCO® D•X Dust Insecticide (residual dust) in void areas to exclude pests and where pest activity is detected or where conditions are conducive to pest problems (i.e. moisture areas such as around plumbing pipes and penetrations, etc.). An application of EcoPCO® AR•X Multi-Purpose Insecticide (residual aerosol) to cracks and crevices and all window and door framing areas may be neccessary. If pest activity is detected in an attic or crawl space area, the use EcoPCO® WP•X Wettable Powder Insecticide (residual wettable powder) around the perimeter and where pest activity is detected is generally indicated.

For additional control of crawling insects, we may apply EcoEXEMPT® IC Insecticide Concentrate or EcoPCO® WP•X using a compressed air sprayer in non-visible areas where pest activity has been detected. We will pay special attention to cracks and crevices, void areas, dark corners, plumbing areas and other harborage sites.

Exterior Service

Using EcoEXEMPT® IC or EcoPCO® WP•X in either a compressed air sprayer or a power sprayer our technicians will treat all areas where pest activity was detected. For a perimeter treatment we may apply EcoEXEMPT® IC or EcoPCO® WP•X along the foundation to a height of 2 to 3 feet, and to a band of soil/vegetation 6 to 10 feet wide around the home. We will pay special attention to plumbing penetrations, any harborage areas, and cracks or crevices. We will also seek out and apply EcoEXEMPT® IC or EcoPCO® WP•X to all active ant nests/mounds, and all trailing ants within 10 feet of the foundation. For spiders, our technicians may apply EcoEXEMPT® IC or EcoPCO® WP•X directly to all visible spiders and nest areas and we'll knock down all spider webs.

We may also need to apply EcoEXEMPT® G Granular Insecticide uniformly to the ground 5 to 10 feet wide around and adjacent to the perimeter of the foundation. For ant mounds/nests an application of EcoEXEMPT® G over the nest and up to 2 feet around the mound may be required.

For wasps, yellow jackets, hornets and spiders: Our technicnas will stand a safe distance from the nest and apply EcoPCO® JET•X Wasp/Hornet/Yellow Jacket Contact Insecticide (aerosol) directly to the nest.

Once the application portion of the service is complete we may, at the customer's request, caulk and seal all visible cracks and crevices or gaps that could allow pest access into the home. We will also advise you to prune any vegetation (i.e. tree limbs, foundation hedges, etc.) that comes in contact with the house. Limbs should be a least 1 foot from the structure, and hedges should be at least 6 inches from the structure.

Special Service

Mosquito control: To control adult mosquitoes our technicians may apply EcoEXEMPT® IC to shrubbery and vegetation where mosquitoes may rest. Shrubbery and vegetation around stagnant water, marshy areas, ponds and shorelines may also be treated with EcoEXEMPT® IC.

Fly Control: To control flys our technicans may apply EcoEXEMPT® IC or EcoPCO® WP•X in and around areas where fly infestation is detected.

Weed Control: If weed control is desired our technicans can apply EcoEXEMPT® HC Herbicide Concentrate: Non-Selective (a non-selective herbicide) using either a compressed air sprayer or high volume spray equipment. Apply directly and uniformly to the foliage of the vegetation to be controlled.
